Many men and women love the idea of being able to lose weight without dieting, but many think it’s impossible. The truth is that you can lose weight without dieting, but you will have to make some adjustments to the way you eat.
Why Traditional Diets Don’t Work –
When you think of a diet, you probably think of all the things that you will not be able to eat. Also, when you say “I’m on a diet” that means it is a temporary thing and that, at some point, you will come off the diet. What happens when people come off of a diet? They usually gain back whatever weight they lost.
Instead of going on a diet, you should instead focus on learning how to eat healthy and then change your way of eating permanently.
Instead of a temporary plan that you will stop doing as soon as you want a piece of cake, you should instead work to change the way that you think about food.
No Forbidden Foods –
One of the big downfalls on diets is that there is always a list of forbidden foods. If a dieter, for example, goes to a wedding, that cake is a forbidden food. If he gives in and eats a piece, he’ll feel like he blew it and many will, at that point, just give up on the diet altogether.
But that cake doesn’t have to be forbidden. You can eat the occasional piece of cake and still lose weight.
If eating that piece of cake doesn’t make you feel like a failure, then you’ll just go on with your healthy eating the next day.

For many people, the first step is learning what it means to eat a healthy diet. There are plenty of books and information available on the internet about what must be present in a healthy diet. However, if you are really new to the idea of following a nutritious way of eating, it is a good idea to talk to your doctor and/or a nutritionist. They will be able to help you with the basics to be sure that you’re getting off on the right foot.
A Lifetime of Good Choices
Once you learn what it means to eat healthy, you are ready to get started. You will learn that you must eat a certain number of fruits, vegetables and whole grains. On to those items add lean meat and fish. You’ll find that by eating healthy, you will not feel hungry, because your body will be getting all of the nutrients that it needs.
Also, you’ll begin to notice that you will have more energy. Other positive benefits, such as an improvement in your skin and, of course, weight loss will follow.
So What About the Wedding Cake?
Are you wondering where that piece of wedding cake fits in? As long as you are eating correctly and making healthy choices 90% of the time, it is not going to matter if you have an occasional splurge such as cake, pizza or French fries.
The key word is “occasional”. By limiting your splurges, you are able to eat healthy and have no list of forbidden foods. If you really want something, such as a piece of chocolate, then eat it! There is no reason to feel guilty or like you failed. Just eat that thing you crave and then go right back to your healthy eating.
